Tooth extraction is a very common surgical procedure in dental practices. Although our dental practice focuses on tooth preservation, tooth extraction is sometimes unavoidable. Tooth extraction can be necessary for various reasons. We differentiate between conventional tooth extraction and surgical tooth extraction. Both procedures are performed gently and carefully in our practice.
During a normal tooth extraction, the tooth is gently rotated and removed from its socket. If this is not possible, surgical tooth extraction is performed. Especially in the case of impacted teeth or complex root anatomy, bone removal is often necessary to gain access. The removal of bone is called osteotomy in technical terms. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, numbing the affected region so that you, as the patient, generally do not feel the procedure. The approach is minimally invasive, but it is still considered an operation that may come with some discomfort. The actual surgical procedure is relatively quick. Our specialists are skilled and experienced. After the extraction, the healing process of the wound may take a few days. We will provide you with information on specific hygiene measures.
