Orthodontics for Children and Adolescents

Straight Teeth - with orthodontic treatment for
children and adolescents.

We set the course for straight teeth with high-quality orthodontic services from TEAM 15.

Orthodontics for Children.

To move teeth in children and influence jaw growth, orthodontists usually use removable appliances and, in exceptional cases, braces bonded to the teeth. Removable appliances include devices like "active plates," which are mainly used to create space in cases of crowding. If the position of the jaws needs to be altered as well, functional appliances such as activators, bionators, or functional regulators are used. These appliances can correct jaw misalignments such as overbite or underbite. They promote or restrict growth until the jaws are in an optimal position relative to each other. These appliances are ideally used before the age of 13! After that, the jaws grow very little, making it increasingly difficult for the orthodontist to influence growth. Therefore, the optimal time for such treatment is before the age of 13. It is always advisable to visit an orthodontist around the age of 9 or 10. In exceptional cases, orthodontic treatment may be beneficial even earlier.

Orthodontics for Adolescents.

By the age of 13, most patients have completed the transition from primary to permanent teeth. This means that all baby teeth have fallen out, and the permanent teeth have erupted. From this point on, treatment is usually carried out with fixed appliances ("braces"). Alternatively, treatment with nearly "invisible" correction aligners, known as "aligners" (Invisalign/Suresmile), is also available. Here is an overview of the braces we offer at TEAM 15!
