Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are gently placed into the jawbone. Here, the implants fuse securely with the bone (osseointegration) and serve as a stable foundation for a fixed dental prosthesis.
Dental implants are a scientifically recognized method for replacing missing teeth. We have over 20 years of experience in this field. We approach implantology holistically, which means we provide guidance before and after treatment. Many grateful patients consult our practice for implant follow-up confirming the high quality of life with dental implants.
We provide personal and transparent advice on dental implants.
As a prerequisite for implant treatment, information and education are our top priorities. After diagnosing the individual situation, we present various treatment options in a personal conversation. We specifically explain the pros and cons of each therapy. Together, based on your needs and expectations, we will decide on the optimal treatment solution. This is often done in close consultation with the referring dentist and/or dental technicians.
What do dental implants cost?
Making a definitive statement about the costs of dental implants without knowing your situation beforehand would be unprofessional. We will present the costs of dental implants or implant treatment to you specifically based on your individual situation, of course without obligation. There are always various therapy options, even from a financial perspective. In a collaborative, advisory, and confidential conversation, we will find an optimal solution for you. We will provide a cost estimate/offering and discuss it in detail with you. We are happy to show you alternative possibilities as well. We will find a suitable way for you to replace missing teeth. We lay the foundation for a successful implant therapy with accurate treatment planning for the patient. A thorough assessment of oral health, teeth, and jaw, as well as the reduction of existing sources of inflammation before implant therapy, are crucial for treatment success. Within this "pre-treatment phase," we also decide whether pre-treatments such as cavity or periodontal treatments are necessary and assess if there are any teeth that need to be removed. We use modern digital technologies such as intraoral scanners (3D scans of teeth/gums/jaw relation) and 3D X-rays (DVT) for precise diagnostic analysis. This allows us to create a virtual planning model of your individual starting situation. For the analysis of the jaw situation, we create an X-ray image of the jawbone before each treatment. In many cases, the three-dimensional view into the bone (3D image) provides us with a good foundation.
With digital volume tomography (DVT), we offer a state-of-the-art diagnostic procedure – as one of the first dental practices in the Canton of Zug, and for over 10 years now. We have extensive experience in diagnosing and analyzing this modern X-ray method. Unlike conventional X-ray images, DVT allows for three-dimensional imaging. Similar to the computed tomography (CT) commonly known in general medicine, DVT creates individual cross-sectional images of the bone, which are then assembled into a spatial representation (3D model) using software. This representation allows us to look inside the jaw with very low radiation exposure. At the computer, we can visualize all anatomical details (nerves, blood vessels, bone volume). This is the optimal basis for precise planning of the surgical procedure and for high diagnostic accuracy. Dr. Hermann is certified by the Swiss Society for Dentomaxillofacial Radiology (SGDMFR) in "Training in Digital Volume Tomography and Operation of a Digital Volume Tomograph." He continuously updates his knowledge and undergoes the necessary recertifications at regular intervals.
In many situations, it can be important to see more than what is visible in a regular two-dimensional image. For example, think of a group photo at a family gathering. You can only see the people in the foreground. What or who is behind them remains hidden or is only partially visible (photo = two-dimensional). When planning a surgical procedure in the jaw, it can be risky to overlook hidden structures. Therefore, we want to know what anatomical structures (nerves, blood vessels, etc.) are "hidden" in the jaw and what dimensions (width and height) the jawbone has at the planned site of implantation. This requires three-dimensional imaging. With the DVT image, we can virtually locate all structures precisely, make an accurate diagnosis, and plan the surgical procedure concretely.
You can describe your needs to us or the dental technician, which will serve as guidance. It's often helpful to bring old photos of your smile to the practice. The dental prosthesis will be customized to your specific situation. Digital technologies provide support in this process. In some cases, it's beneficial to create a prototype (mock-up) of the dental prosthesis. This can be tried in the mouth (trial teeth).
The planning of the dental implants is done in software. The data from the DVT (3D X-ray image) and the mock-up (model of the newly planned dental prosthesis) are combined through data matching. Now, we can see exactly how the dental prosthesis should look, and at the same time, we have a 3D view of the jawbone. The planning of the implant positions is done virtually (backward planning/forward thinking). We simulate the surgical procedure on the computer. This is not only fascinating but also offers extremely high safety and predictability. We'd be happy to visualize the dental implant planning for you using the virtual 3D image. Let yourself be fascinated by the modern possibilities of implant therapy!
The dataset from the virtual implant planning can serve as a template for creating a drill template. With the 3D-printed drill template, the digitally planned implant positions can now be precisely transferred to the jaw (guided surgery, navigated implant insertion). This way, the precisely simulated treatment is transferred 1:1 to the real situation. Here are your advantages:
The dental implants are gently and minimally invasively inserted into the jaw according to the plan. After preparing the implant site, the implants can be screwed in like small screws. Typically, stitches are removed after 7 - 10 days, and the primary healing is complete. During the subsequent healing phase (approximately 2 - 3 months), the implants fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration).
In general, we numb the area where the implant treatment is performed sensitively. You won't feel any pain; you may only feel slight pressure. Upon request, we offer treatment under general anesthesia, working with an anesthesia team for this purpose.
The artificial tooth roots - the dental implants that have fused with the bone - serve as the foundation for the fixed dental implant teeth. The new dental restoration can be permanently attached to them. The dental implant restoration is crafted by a specialized dental technician. We collaborate with experienced dental technicians in our region. Depending on the situation, various types of dental restorations can be anchored on the implants:
Functionally and aesthetically, the dental implant teeth are custom-made for you. We pay attention to age-appropriate design of the dental restoration. As a patient, you should be able to comfortably live with the new teeth. Additionally, the ability to maintain good oral hygiene is one of the primary requirements for dental implant restorations. Dental implant teeth require good oral hygiene with thorough cleaning and reliable follow-up care.
