The healthy gums form the perfect frame for beautiful teeth. In professional circles, we refer to the white aesthetics (teeth) and the red aesthetics (gums). Both exist in harmony with each other. In our dental practice, Dr. Frederic Hermann and Dr. Carolin Fischer are your specialists for healthy gums. Using modern and gentle techniques, we can perform gum corrections. There are many reasons for correcting the gum line, including:
Teeth require a stable foundation: healthy gums. That's why in our practice, the assessment of the gums and the periodontal apparatus (supporting structures of the teeth) is part of every treatment. Healthy gums surround the teeth like a collar. They are pale pink and snugly fit against the teeth. Swollen and inflamed gums (dark red in color) or gum bleeding are signs of a bacterial disease called periodontitis (commonly known as gum disease). One consequence of periodontitis can be gum recession, which exposes the tooth roots and leads to sensitivity.
Once the causes of gum recession (e.g., inflammation) have been eliminated, the exposed tooth roots can be covered using microsurgical techniques. The gum line can be corrected, for example, through a gum grafting procedure. Although the term "gum grafting" may sound invasive, we perform it with microsurgery, ensuring a highly gentle approach. The exposed and elongated tooth roots are covered, and the transplanted tissue seamlessly integrates. As a result, the gum appears inconspicuously beautiful and natural. A particularly innovative approach is the use of "soft tissue replacement materials" that involve a collagen matrix, eliminating the need for gum tissue harvesting from the palate. We have extensive experience in this field and at TEAM 15, we are happy to provide you with detailed information on the innovative possibilities of gum correction.
Just as every initial situation is different, the process of gum treatment is individually tailored. In our dental practice, we focus on prevention. Therefore, we first investigate the causes and treat them. Once the causes (e.g., inflammation) have been resolved, we proceed with the correction phase. We discuss the procedure of gum treatment with you in advance. We will also provide you with a breakdown of the costs based on an individual diagnosis and answer any questions you may have.
