Dental hygiene, PZR
and prophylaxis -

the key to good dental and oral health.

Whether it's thorough oral care at home or professional tooth cleaning performed by our trained dental hygienists and prophylaxis assistants - clean teeth are healthy teeth. Discover the benefits of our in-house Dental Hygiene and Prevention practice!

Prophylaxis -
as individual as the person.

Teeth cleaning, tooth-healthy nutrition, tartar removal, prophylaxis, and preventive care, dental aesthetics - for our team, dental hygiene is a crucial activity to ensure healthy teeth. In our dental practice, we always work individually because each person has different needs. Our trained dental hygienist, Christine Schumacher , listens to your desires and addresses any anxieties you may have. For patients with dental anxiety or highly sensitive teeth, our staff can apply local anesthesia during the cleaning process, in consultation with you. At TEAM 15, we exclusively work with proven technology and modern equipment such as AIRFLOW® and EMS NO PAIN®.

We create prophylaxis concepts for various needs, for example, for patients who ...

  • simply want to maintain their beautiful teeth for a long time
  • have severely compromised oral health
  • have periodontitis
  • experience dental anxiety
  • have dental prosthetics or are edentulous
  • have specific conditions (e.g., smokers, pregnant women)
  • are still in childhood
  • have pre-existing medical conditions

Professional tooth cleaning -
making teeth shine.

There are numerous effective measures for healthy and beautiful teeth. Professional tooth cleaning by trained dental hygienists has both medical and cosmetic benefits.

With a tooth cleaning, we make your teeth shine.

During a professional tooth cleaning, we gently remove stubborn plaque deposits. Plaque often accumulates in niches and hard-to-reach areas that cannot be cleaned during regular oral hygiene routines. These deposits can lead to caries and gum inflammation (gingivitis, periodontitis).

How can I protect against plaque?

Thorough mechanical cleaning (toothbrush, dental floss, interdental brushes) can remove plaque. We recommend brushing your teeth at least twice a day and thoroughly cleaning the interdental spaces with dental floss, interdental brushes, or picks. However, there are small niches and areas in the mouth that are difficult to reach with a toothbrush and dental floss. Plaque can accumulate in these areas, even with perfect oral hygiene at home. Therefore, professional tooth cleaning should be performed 1-4 times a year.

Gentle removal of tartar.

The removal of tartar as part of the professional tooth cleaning process is done using special hand instruments (e.g., scalers, curettes) or a high-frequency ultrasonic device. We utilize the advanced PIEZON NO PAIN® technology from the Swiss company EMS, which allows for a gentle and minimally irritating cleaning process.

We polish your teeth.

After removing deposits, tartar, and discolorations, we give your teeth a high gloss finish. Polishing smoothens the tooth surfaces, making it more difficult for new deposits to adhere. We use special polishing instruments and high-quality prophylaxis pastes. The pastes have a pleasant taste and provide a fresh, clean feeling. After polishing, the teeth are so smooth that the reattachment of plaque is hindered.

Your health is worth it.

After the professional tooth cleaning, our dental hygiene experts provide individual instructions for oral care at home. We offer guidance on brushing techniques, tips and tricks for cleaning interdental spaces, fluoride application, tooth-healthy nutrition, etc. Feel free to ask us any questions regarding clean teeth and oral health.

How is dental plaque formed?

Dental plaque forms as a transparent film around the teeth. The main cause is bacteria that adhere to the tooth surface. In combination with saliva and certain foods, plaque forms. For example, food rich in sugar provides the perfect foundation because bacteria "love" sugar. The plaque bacteria produce acids, creating an acidic environment, which leads to the formation of plaque and tartar. If not removed, this can lead to tooth decay and gum inflammation.

Are all teeth stains removed?

We take great care of your teeth. Plaque is thoroughly removed, and stains (e.g., from coffee, nicotine, red wine) can usually be eliminated as well. We utilize the AIRFLOW® technology to gently remove stains and soft dental plaque using a powder-water-air mixture. This minimally invasive and typically painless method can also be used for deep cleaning of braces and dental prosthetics.

Naturally clean tooth whiteness will make your smile shine. Any stubborn stains that cannot be removed during professional teeth cleaning can be addressed through tooth bleaching. Please feel free to inquire about it. In our dental practice, we offer various bleaching methods.

How is tartar formed?

Tartar forms when minerals from saliva are deposited onto dental plaque. The hardened deposits primarily accumulate in the area of the salivary glands, specifically on the inner surfaces of the lower incisors and the posterior molars in the upper jaw.

Why should tartar be removed?

Removing tartar helps prevent gum problems. The persistent deposits often occur below the gumline and can irritate the gums. This can lead to inflammation (gingivitis), which, if left untreated, can develop into periodontitis.

Fluoridation as long-term protection for teeth.

To conclude, we apply a fluoride gel to the teeth. Like a protective coating, the gel envelops the tooth, shielding it from harmful bacteria and acids—a long-term fluoridation for added protection.
